Bailey Doesn’t Bark but

I am very happy to announce the launch of Bailey Doesn’t Bark’s second line – Sometimes She Does

I started Sometimes She Does in order to share the colorful, young and quirky side of the Bailey Doesn’t Bark family and also to offer exclusive, one of a kind pieces at an accessible price range.
I like to think of Sometimes She Does as Bailey Doesn’t Bark’s unpredictable little sister.

Here’s a brief description of Sometimes She Does:

Our collection of hand selected wares from antique, second hand and restaurant ware shops inspire us to create the designs for them, along with other sources of inspiration such as people, food, music and pop culture.

We use Sometimes She Does five signature colors (Petite Pink, Yum Yellow, Gourmet Green, Buttered Blue and Bite-Size Brown – plus the occasional Platinum Perfection) to connect our collections, including the exclusive designs created by guest artists.

Sometimes She Does and Bailey Doesn’t Bark share the same philosophy of being kind to the Earth. We mainly focus on classic, made in USA goods, seconds in excellent conditions and vintage finds. All our packing materials are 100% recycled, re-usable, and/or biodegradable.

All wares are hand decorated and re-fired in our studio based in NYC.

Sometimes She Does collections are truly special, very limited and most items are one of a kind.
We’d love for everybody to own a little piece of art.

I hope you enjoy Sometimes She Does!

We’ll be “blogging“, “facebooking“, “tweeting” about new pieces as they become available. If you prefer to join Sometimes’ mailing list we have that set up too!!!

I’d also love to hear your thoughts. Leave comments below. THANK YOU!

Personalized Lined Notebook

The overdue update.

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Remember this? Well, I have very good news to share. BDB has (finally) found and partnered with an independent, domestic ceramic manufacturer! We are packing up the finished pieces and sending them out to ‘wait list’ customers and all of our orders from the New York International Gift Fair (January 2010) were shipped last month.

I am relieved.

The hard part was getting back on track after having painfully removed my head out of the deep ‘production, endless product packing, meeting deadlines, maintaining website, unpacking unusually large boxes, sweeping peanuts off the floor…’ hole.

One (of the) good thing(s) about being pushed into (getting yourself into) a huge hole alone is that you come out of it with an idea of what kind of help you need the most. There are now two incredible people helping me out in the studio.  I have learned to pass on some of the work and am truly appreciating the results. It’s nice to know that your company will not explode if YOU’re not the one wrapping up orders. :/

Coming up with new designs has been difficult, but with help, I’ve had some time to sketch.

I see light and I’m walking towards it. Little by little things are falling into place and BDB’s getting into a nice cycle.

The new pieces will be officially introduced in August along with the refreshed classics produced by our new ceramic manufacturer. The pieces are made from a porcelain recipe specially formulated to sustain the unique fineness and lightness of the designs. The mug is just the right size and weight. I can fill it up to the max and it doesn’t feel like lifting weights. It keeps my hot tea warm and iced coffee chilled until they’re finished. The plate is perfectly thin – it may look delicate, but it can handle the occasionally long weekends in the sink. The pieces look and feel rightfully organic.

I simply love these pieces and I hope you enjoy them. (Click here for more information on how they were made.)

Between today and the official release date (August, date TBD), I’ll be releasing few pieces randomly – availability will be announced on BDB’s Twitter and Facebook pages. To keep up-to-date, (click here) to “follow” us on Twitter and (here) to “like” :/ us on Facebook!

Thank you! – Re Jin
